Facebook have recently updated their privacy arrangements. All accounts have a new default setting that allows your Facebook data to be shared with non-facebook websites. Facebook have set everyone to an automatic "allow" status.
Not everyone is happy to share their data - myself included.
To change the setting :
Go to Account >> Privacy Settings >> Applications and Websites & then "uncheck" Allow & confirm.

Facebook explained the reasons for making the changes :
"Allowing instant personalisation will give you a richer experience as you browse the web. If you opt out you will have to manually opt-in for these experiences. Please keep in mind that if you opt out, your Friends may still share public Facebook information about you to personalise their experience on these Partner sites unless you block the aplication".
